TWELVE MONTHS!

We made it, you guys! Liam is 12 months old. He is alive and well and thriving. I am in awe almost every single day of the new things he does. For example, this kid can climb anything. I took him to the Gymboree open gym time the other day and I stood back in amazement as he dominated every single obstacle. He's also such a smart little guy. He likes taking the tops and caps of things and putting them where they belong. When he wants to go for a walk he crawls over to the front door, takes Jaxon's leash out of his bag, and holds it out to me. He loves talking on the phone and vacuuming and playing with the TV remote. He's a little fish in the water. He dunks his head in the water like it's nothing (future Olympian?!). He's a very curious and obervant little boy, and he doesn't give his smiles and giggles away to just anyone. You have to work for it. Oh, and he recently started dancing. So cute!

He definitely prefers to feed himself which means meal times get messy, but that's okay. He's starting to really like his almond milk now too. We are still nursing three times a day. He got sick in the middle of our weaning process so I decided to hold off a bit until he's 100% again. And I decided that once we're down to just a morning and bedtime feeding that I will let him wean himself when he's ready. Or maybe I'll continue to wean him. We'll just play it by ear and see how it goes.

He is not the slightest bit interested in walking and that's okay. He will walk when he's ready. I'm sure he will just surprise us all one day and take off running. ;-) He is certainly a speedy crawler though.

He babbles a lot these days! He mostly says 'mama' and 'baba.' Sometimes he will throw in a 'papa.' Oh, and he has been more cuddly lately. He will take little breaks from playing to give me a hug or rest his head on my leg. So sweet. My favorite is when I walk into the room and he gives me a huge smile. He's really into clapping too, especially after he does something good.

Also, this kid has more energy than I know what to do with. He doesn't stop for a second all day long. He crawls all over the house, plays with every single toy, inspects every shoe and toilet paper roll, opens and closes every door, chases Jaxon, reads every book, etc etc etc. By the end of the day I feel like I ran a marathon. Sometimes I can get him to sit still for a 'Baby Einstein' episode. That and naps are my only downtime in the day. And believe me, he makes me work hard for naps too.

All in all, Liam is just the best kid ever. ;-)

I am so blessed to be your mommy! I am so blessed to have spent every single day and night with you for the past year. Thank you for teaching me so much. Thank you for the smiles and hugs. Thank you for loving me, because I can tell that you do. Happy birthday, my darling boy.
