Two Under Two

When Isabel is born Liam will be 19 months old. That means I will have two kids under the age of two. I know many people have two under two...or three under three...or even four under four!...but the thought of having two under two freaks me out just a little. Liam is still sooo young and sooo needy. I'm not sure if and how he will change over the next couple months but he certainly won't be an independent child doing mostly everything by himself. I'm not sure how other toddlers are but I feel like Liam is especially clingy. Let's face it, the boy is obsessed with me. On the one hand, it's nice to feel so loved and needed. I don't mind having a mama's boy one bit. I don't know why there's such a negative connotation with mama's boys...hopefully he will grow up to love and respect women because he loves and respects his mama, but those are thoughts for another day. Like I said, it's nice to feel loved and needed, but exhausting too. He definitely prefers me over anyone else, even daddy. He has yet to stay in the church nursery for an entire service because he has a conniption and they always call me back to settle him down. And he still has sleep issues. It used to be that Alex could go in and soothe him back to sleep if need be, but lately he has a fit if anyone but me goes in. Which makes me wonder, how do I balance taking care of a newborn and a toddler at the same time? I keep praying that Isabel will be a lot more easy-going than her big brother. I think of how Liam was as a newborn and an infant, and I really don't want to go through that again, especially with a toddler in tow. I know, however, that we will get through it. Hopefully as Liam grows and develops he will become a helpful and caring big brother. Hopefully since he is still so young he will adjust quickly to having a sibling and soon won't remember life without one.

I'm sure two under two ain't easy, but as with all things in life, you adapt and live the life you've been blessed with in the best way possible.

Anyone out there have/had two kids close in age? What was your experience?
