ages and stages

I've been trying to really enjoy this stage in my young daughter's life. Liam's newborn days are like a fog to me, but now that I know how fast it goes I'm trying to embrace this short time when Isabel is just a tiny little thing. I definitely have been enjoying it more than when Liam was a young babe, but truth be told, I am not a baby person. Babies are like a mystery to me. I've never been good at distinguishing their different cries. I get stressed out when I have no idea why in the world they are crying or when I can't make them stop. I don't like constantly feeding and trying to get them to sleep. I don't like that they really don't do much. Sure it can be nice to just lay a baby down and have them actually stay put (just try doing that with Liam, it won't work). The quietness and stillness of a new baby can be a breath of fresh air. I am relishing it, really, I am. But again, I'm not a baby person. I am much more enjoying the toddler years. I could do without the tantrums, but everything else is nice. I like that I can take Liam to the playground and library. I like that he is starting to communicate verbally with me. I like watching him dance and run and play. I like reading books with him and having him laugh at the funny parts. I like that he only takes one nap a day and it's at a predictable time and getting him to sleep is so easy. I like that he eats table food and his schedule doesn't have to be so strict. I love my baby girl, I really do, but I kinda can't wait for her to be a toddler girl.

What about you? Are you a baby person? What's your favorite age?

A beautiful Saturday with our toddler boy and baby girl.
