You guys, I'm not even kidding when I tell you that I have always wanted to be the "room parent" for my kid's class. You can laugh if you want to, but I always thought it would be so much fun to be able to volunteer in the classroom, organize parties, chaperone field trips, etc. This is part of the reason I wanted to become a stay-at-home mom, so that I would have the time to do this.
Well, my time has come! I am officially the room parent for Liam's classroom. Sure, maybe I was picked because no one else volunteered, but no matter, the job is mine. (By the way, if you're unsure what a room parent is, it's basically someone that acts as a liaison between the teacher and other parents) I'm excited to be so involved with Liam's school. It's important to me to be there for my kids in this way. I hope that even if and when I start working again that I will always be able to help out in the classroom.
Anyone out there ever been in a room parent? How was your experience? Any tips for this newbie?
