this is a God dream
I have loved writing since I was a young child. I have filled out countless journals with my words during my years on this earth. I never imagined anyone would actually read my words. Truth be told, I was pretty content to keep my thoughts restricted to these private journals. I didn't intend to write for anyone but myself.
Over the past five years though, God has opened up opportunities for me to share my words with others. It's been quite a ride. This whole experience of being a freelance writer has been thrilling and humbling and joyous. I have met other incredible writers who have become such dear friends to me. They have cheered me on and given me advice and recommended me to editors. I've also met some precious readers. Whenever anyone shares with me that my words have had an impact on them, it truly blows me away. Every single time! It's also humbling and sobering to realize that the freelance writer life is not a glamorous life. I often have to pick up odd jobs here and there to make ends meet. I don't get to sit around sipping coffee and musing about what to write about. There's a whole lot of hustle involved. Freelance writing isn't as easy as I thought it would be, and it certainly doesn't rake in the big bucks. But one fact remains, this is a God dream (thanks Kanye).
I'm humbled that God would use me and these little words of mine. I'm humbled any time I land a new gig. It's only by His grace that I'm able to live out this dream of mine. So, thanks, God. I'm excited to see what 2017 has in store for my writing career. I'm putting together some big goals, because this is a God dream, this is everything.
