Refresh Your Soul

Around the time Hurricane Irma was getting ready hit South Florida I received a large package in the mail. I wasn't expecting anything as I was busy preparing our house for the storm. I quickly ripped the tape off and opened the box to discover a devotional inside.

I shared last month that some of my writing was included in a devotional journal called Just Breathe. Well, the same publishing company put together another devotional called Refresh Your Soul: 60 Devotions to Help You Rest in the Lord. This book was a little ray of sunshine to me in the midst of a very real storm. The next day my family and I evacuated our home due to the hurricane and didn't know what we would be coming back to. I spent many hours praying and resting in the Lord.

I'm glad to say that we have since returned to our home. We are all safe and our home is undamaged. Many others, however, are still experiencing a storm in their life long after the rain and winds have passed.

I don't have many words of comfort except that God is with us. He is always with us. In our joy and in our pain. We have the amazing privilege of being able to run to Him and rest at His feet. I pray that as people are rebuilding their lives that they will find comfort in the Lord. (And can I just give a quick shout out to my church? They have been the hands and feet of Jesus, leading in recovery efforts and disaster relief. I thank God for them.)
